English Language Requirements for International Students


In order to gain admission on a course, you must demonstrate to us that you have competence in the English language before GLC can issue a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS).

The following IELTS or equivalent from other UKBA recognised secure English Language test scores are acceptable:

  1. For direct admission to academic/vocational/professional programmes at NQF Levels 4 and 5: a minimum competence equivalent to IELTS 5.5. Scores not below 4.0 in all bands, i.e. listening, reading, speaking and writing.
  2. For direct admission to programmes at NQF Levels 6 and 7: a minimum competence equivalent to IELTS 6.0. Scores not below 5.5 in all bands, i.e. listening, reading, speaking and writing.

Students from majority English speaking countries recognised by the UKBA and students who have completed UK Degree or equivalent course from a majority English speaking country recognised by the UKBA are exempted from this requirement.
