College Rules and Regulations
Students must:
- Attend classes regularly in accordance with the timetables provided. A minimum of 85% attendance for each unit is required. If attendance falls below this, without a valid reason, students may be suspended, not permitted to take examinations, or both. If students are unable to attend class for any reason, the lecturer should be notified explaining the circumstances. If you are absent for more than one week due to illness, you should produce a medical certificate.
- Be punctual. Persistent latecomers are likely to be suspended.
- Study to the best of their ability and hand in assigned work on time.
- Follow the college's Health and Safety Regulations and behave in a way which does not compromise their own safety and that of others.
- Respect all those who use the college facilities, including students, staff, volunteers or members of the public.
- Be considerate of the rights of fellow students and staff to an environment conducive to teaching and learning.
- Respect the college property.
- Be aware of the college's equal opportunity policy and treat everyone with respect regardless of culture, race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, disability or social status.
- Inform the college if they feel harassed, bullied or assaulted on or off the college premises.
- Register with the college and pay tuition fees on time
- Become members of the appropriate external examining body and register for examinations well in advance. Membership and examination fees are to be borne by the student.
- Inform the college of any changes in personal details or address
- Carry their student identity card with them at all times and produce it on request.
- Turn off mobile phone while in lectures or tutorials.
- Not to be under the influence of drugs, alcohol or other illicit substances on the college premises.
Misconduct
Disciplinary action will be taken against any student found guilty of misconduct. The College may suspend or expel such offenders.
Misconduct includes:
- Behaviour which disruptive to teaching, learning and other activities of the college
- Failure to follow reasonable instructions given by staff
- Smoking within the college premises
- Failure to follow Health and Safety Regulations
- Disorderly behaviour or the use of abusive language
- Vandalising college buildings, equipment or furniture
- Misusing college resources and facilities such as the library, software and computers.
- Using or selling illegal drugs and consuming alcohol on the college premises
- Attending college under the influence of drugs or alcohol
- Displaying racially or sexually offensive behaviour
- Violence or threat of violence
- Any illegal act on or off the college's premises, which may harm the reputation of the college
Gross Misconduct
Any behaviour involving violence, threat of violence, deliberate damage to property, bullying, harassment, intimidation, dishonesty (including cheating and theft), or other illegal activities will be treated as 'gross misconduct'. These are only examples and not a complete list of the types of behaviour which the college may treat as 'gross misconduct'. Anyone found guilty of gross misconduct will either be suspended or expelled from the college. A thorough investigation will be conducted in every case and the principal's decision will be communicated to the student, subject to the right of appeal.
Courses and Fees
- Students must pay their course fees in full before the course commencement date, unless otherwise arranged with the college.
- Students are required to pay the appropriate registration and examination fees to the relevant professional bodies. Examination fees will not be refunded.
- The college reserves the right to cancel a course without prior notice, if there are insufficient numbers of students, or for any other reason. If this happens, any fees paid by the student will be fully refunded or transferred to another course if the student so desires.
- Students are required to pay their tuition fees on time; failure to do so may result in suspension, exclusion from college examinations or the withholding of results.
- The college reserves the right to review its fee structure at any time without prior notice.
Withdrawal from a Course and Refund of Fees
- Students who wish to withdraw from their course for whatever reason must notify the college in writing at least four weeks prior to the commencement date of their course. The withdrawal will take effect from the date that the application is received by the college administration.
- For withdrawal applications received four weeks in advance, an administrative charge of £150 will be deducted from the deposit and the remaining balance will be refunded.
- For withdrawals which are received less than four weeks before the course commencement date, no deposit will be refunded. Where withdrawals are received after the course commencement date, for whatever reason, no refund will be given. In addition, any balance of outstanding fees on the student's account must be paid in full.
- Overseas students should note that where the college has been involved in a student’s visa application, the college must notify the Home Office if that student withdraws from the course.
- For students who are unsuccessful in obtaining a visa, a full refund (less the £150 non-refundable administrative fee) will only be paid on receipt of the following:
- The original college receipt (photocopies or fax are not acceptable)
- Visa letter issued by GLC
- An original copy of the official visa refusal letter issued by the relevant British High Commission/Embassy. The college may verify the authenticity of the visa refusal letter if deemed necessary.
- A copy of the photo and signature page of the student’s passport
Refunds under this section must be submitted 4 weeks before the commencement date of the course. Please allow a minimum of three weeks in order to process your request for a refund.
